Position Overview:
An independent commercial insurance agency seeks a results-oriented New Business Marketing Specialist to spearhead efforts in negotiating new business with insurance underwriters and expanding our client portfolio. This role focuses on identifying client needs, working closely with underwriters, and developing tailored insurance solutions that offer value to prospective clients. The ideal candidate is skilled in relationship-building, negotiation, and market analysis within the commercial insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • New Business Development: Identify and develop new commercial client opportunities by assessing market needs and aligning agency offerings to meet specific industry demands.
  • Underwriter Negotiations: Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance underwriters to secure favorable terms, pricing, and coverage options tailored to client needs.
  • Client Consultation: Collaborate with the sales team to understand client requirements and provide customized insurance solutions, assisting in the proposal process and positioning the agency as a trusted advisor.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct ongoing research to identify growth opportunities and industry trends, which can inform negotiation strategies and drive new client acquisition.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare, present, and refine proposals to potential clients in collaboration with underwriters, ensuring competitive and comprehensive coverage options.
  • Relationship Management: Work alongside agency leadership and sales teams to enhance relationships with both clients and underwriters, facilitating a seamless process from lead identification to policy binding.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in a commercial insurance, underwriting, or marketing role, with a strong focus on business development.
  • Proven expertise in negotiating with underwriters to obtain optimal terms and coverage options.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on presenting and negotiating with confidence.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance products and the underwriting process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, or related field preferred.
